Our Corporate office in Ballston Spa is looking for a dedicated and organized individual to join our team of Commodity Lumber Buyers.

 

Starting between $65,000 and $68,000 annually with annual performance based raises.

  • Evaluate need for and, where appropriate, direct price changes including contract pricing, promotional, DWO
  • Research and establish stock and special order sell prices and GM % for non-commodity items, submit to Director of Purchasing and/or Senior Buyer for review
  • Working with Director of Purchasing and Senior Buyer, research and set prices for commodity items.
  • Regularly review all product lines for sales and GM performance
  • Analyze sales & usage reports for sales and on hand quantities in branches and determine products and quantities to be ordered and timing for such order. Develop action plan if required to make changes to product strategy
  • Watch market conditions to anticipate price changes, supply shortages, product/code/industry shifts and modify product strategy as appropriate
  • Review new product (line) with existing product mix for compatibility and select product and quantities that will be ordered, as well as the timing of such orders
  • Develop plan for existing inventory (close out or buyback)
  • Select vendors after researching vendor background
  • Plan new item setup in the yards and stores
  • Communicate new items to Marketing, Sales & Operations
  • Plan new item training and education
  • Research and propose GM% and sell prices
  • Execute timely review of product success/failure

 

Must have knowledge of products & their features, sales, customer service, and administrative skills.
