Our Diesel Mechanic team is looking for an excited individual to join our team of Diesel Techs at the Ballston Spa location.

 

$24 - $30 per hour starting rate depending on experience! Annual performance based raises. 

 

Responsible for the thorough and efficient repair/maintenance of company trucks, tractor trailers, fork lifts, automobiles, and other heavy equipment to support the operational needs and operational efficiency expectations of the company.

 

  • Full time 40+ hours per week - Start time 6:30am
  • Discretionary profit share after one year of employment
  • Six paid holidays and PTO Immediately
  • 4+ years of diesel mechanic experience *required*
  • Primary duties of this role consist of ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers. 
  • Consistently using the tools and technologies provided at Curtis Lumber to properly log, research, and complete repairs. This includes performing basic vehicle diagnostics. 
  • Conducting Preventative Maintenance repairs to perform minor repairs such as, install mounted tires, replace or rotate tires and complete vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles. 
  • Continuously developing your skills in partnership with your manager utilizing Curtis’s available technician training and hands on mentoring.
  • Willingness to work within a team and share expertise with others.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by manager.
  • Discusses the nature and extent of repairs with management to define a repair plan.
  • May be responsible to keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; and/or verifying receipt.
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications
  • May need to lift up to 50lbs at times

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Experience: Minimum of 4 - 6 years of experience in diesel repair and service for heavy truck, light truck, automotive, small engine, and forklift required.  Welding and fabricating experience preferred. 
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude in mechanical and electrical diagnosis; diesel, gas, LP, and electric engines; carburetors, starters, fuel systems; hydraulic/air brake systems
  • Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required.  Formal training including community colleges, trade or vocational schools preferred.  Supervisory experience preferred.
